Ireland

Ireland
Artist - Jedward
Song - Lipstick
Draw - Semi-Final 2, Place 19

Jedward consists of identical twins, John and Edward Grimes. They rose to fame during the 2009 edition of the UK X Factor, eventually placing 6th. After the show ended, their mentor, Louis Walsh, signed them and became their manager. On the 1st February 2010, they released their debut single "Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)". The song reached number two in the UK and number one in Ireland. During their time on the X Factor, the public had very mixed feelings towards them. I suppose they're like marmite, you love them or you hate them!!

It was announced on the 2nd December 2010, that they would participate in the Irish selection "Eurosong 2011". After the full line-up was revealed, Jedward's main contender was Nikki Kavanagh (who was a backing singer for Niamh Kavanagh the previous year). It was also announced that the jury would have the majority of the decision, leaving the public with only 33% of the overall vote. After the juries had given their votes, Jedward was in second place, only four points behind Nikki. Yet after the public votes had been added, Jedward had just grabbed the honour to represent Ireland.

Their song "Lipstick", was composed by Lars Jensen and Martin Larsson, and written by Dan Priddy (who writes many of JLS's songs). The song reached number two in the Irish Charts. Lipstick is in a typical Jedward style, being flamoyant and it gets stuck in your head (whether you want it to or not!!!).

Current Betting Odds (William Hill) - 20/1
My Prediction - Will get into the final, will rank between 12 and 24.

                       Ádh mór!

Check back tomorrow when we'll be looking at another two countries!!
